Big Bend is an advanced dive at a dramatic reef bend off Yap, Micronesia, where the outer reef wall curves sharply, creating powerful currents and an aggregation point for large marine life. Grey reef sharks, whitetip sharks, and schools of barracuda patrol the bend, drawn by the concentration of prey fish in the current. The wall drops steeply into blue water, with impressive coral growth on the upper sections including large sea fans and black coral trees. Eagle rays and manta rays occasionally sweep past. The strong currents demand advanced skills and drift diving experience. Big Bend is one of Yap's most exciting wall dives for experienced divers seeking big animal encounters.
