The Donator, originally named Prosper Schiaffino, is one of the most iconic wreck dives on the French Riviera, lying off the Îles d'Hyères near Le Lavandou. This 78-meter cargo ship sank in 1945 after hitting a mine and now rests upright on a sandy bottom between 30 and 51 meters deep. The remarkably intact wreck is draped in yellow gorgonians and red coral, with huge groupers patrolling the deck and conger eels coiled in the holds. The Donator is considered a must-dive for wreck enthusiasts visiting the Var coast, offering dramatic silhouettes and outstanding marine life encounters at depth. Technical training recommended for full exploration.
