Tombant de la Gabinière is widely regarded as the most famous dive site in France, located off the southern tip of Port-Cros island in the Hyères National Park. This spectacular wall dive plunges from 10 meters to beyond 50 meters, with the rock face covered in vibrant yellow and red gorgonian fans, golden cup corals, and encrusting sponges. The site is legendary for its large grouper population — some exceeding 1 meter in length — that approach divers with remarkable confidence. Barracuda, eagle rays, dentex, and occasionally sunfish (mola mola) are spotted along the wall. An advanced dive due to depth and currents, La Gabinière represents the pinnacle of Mediterranean diving.
