Gallanach Reef is a beginner-friendly shore dive near Oban on the west coast of Scotland, offering accessible diving along a shallow rocky reef reaching 15 meters depth. The sheltered site in the Firth of Lorn provides calm conditions for training and gentle exploration. The reef supports typical Scottish west coast marine life including colorful starfish, sea urchins, hermit crabs, various anemone species, and kelp forests. Scallops and small lobsters can be spotted among the rocks. Gallanach is popular with Oban-based dive operators as a training site and a pleasant recreational dive when weather conditions prevent access to more exposed offshore sites.
