Bonawe Quarry is a shore dive site on Loch Etive near Taynuilt in the Scottish Highlands, a flooded quarry adjacent to the sea loch offering diving to around 15 meters. The quarry's granite walls create an interesting confined underwater environment with reasonable visibility compared to the tannin-stained waters of Loch Etive itself. The site attracts marine life from the loch including crabs, starfish, anemones, and various small fish. Despite the moderate depth, the advanced rating reflects the remote Highland location, cold water temperatures year-round, and limited visibility that can challenge navigation. Bonawe Quarry serves as a convenient shore dive for clubs based in the Oban area, one of Scotland's major dive centers.
