Loch Long is a sea loch on Scotland's west coast near the village of Arrochar, offering accessible shore diving in sheltered fjord-like conditions. The loch's steep sides plunge quickly to significant depths, and the sheltered waters support a rich variety of marine life including anemones, sea urchins, starfish, crabs, and occasional visiting fish species. The beginner-friendly shore entry at several points around the loch makes it popular with Glasgow and west Scotland dive clubs for training and recreational dives. Visibility is variable but can be reasonable, especially in winter. The dramatic Highland scenery surrounding the loch — including the famous Arrochar Alps — provides a stunning backdrop to Scottish cold-water diving.
