Legrena is an advanced dive site near Cape Sounion at the southern tip of the Attica peninsula, where the iconic Temple of Poseidon stands on the clifftop above. The underwater terrain features dramatic rocky walls and deep drop-offs sculpted by millennia of Aegean currents. Dense gorgonian forests and colourful sponge gardens cover the walls, while large groupers, moray eels, and lobsters occupy the numerous caves and crevices. The exposed position brings strong currents that attract pelagic species including amberjack and barracuda. Diving beneath the ancient temple dedicated to the god of the sea adds a mythological dimension to this already impressive dive site.
