Foneas Caves is an advanced cave dive near the Mani Peninsula on the southern Peloponnese coast, one of Greece's wildest and most dramatic shorelines. The cave system features multiple chambers with narrow connecting passages that demand proper cave training and equipment. Inside, spectacular stalactite formations hang from the ceilings, formed over millennia when the caves were above sea level. The walls harbour lobsters, slipper lobsters, and cave-dwelling shrimp, while the entrance areas support groupers and moray eels. The remote Mani location adds expedition character to the dive. Clear, deep-blue Laconian Gulf waters provide excellent visibility at the cave entrance.
