Krikri is a beginner-friendly dive site near Hersonissos on the north coast of Crete, named after the Cretan wild goat (kri-kri) endemic to the island. The site features a gentle reef slope with scattered rocks and sandy patches in the sheltered waters of the Cretan Sea. Marine life is diverse and approachable: colourful wrasse, damselfish, and painted combers patrol the reef, while octopus and moray eels hide in crevices. Posidonia beds border the rocky areas, sheltering seahorses and pipefish. The warm, clear water and easy conditions make it ideal for resort divers and training courses. A pleasant everyday dive that reliably delivers good marine encounters.
