The Anchor is an intermediate dive near Hersonissos on Crete's north coast reaching 20 meters. Centered around a large historical anchor embedded in the reef, this site offers both archaeological interest and rewarding marine encounters. The anchor, likely centuries old, has become encrusted with sponges and marine growth, creating an atmospheric focal point. The surrounding reef features a moderate wall with overhangs and crevices hosting groupers, moray eels, and scorpionfish. Schools of bream and chromis hover above the reef. The 20-meter depth allows comfortable exploration for certified divers, and the anchor provides an excellent photography subject in the clear Cretan waters.
