'Kamini' is a beginner-friendly dive site near Hersonissos on the north coast of Crete, named after the small traditional lime kiln (kamini) found on the nearby shore. This sheltered site offers easy access to a gentle reef slope with scattered rocks, sandy patches, and Posidonia seagrass beds. Marine life is abundant for a beginner site: colourful wrasse, damselfish, painted combers, and blennies are everywhere, while octopus and cuttlefish provide exciting encounters. Sea cucumbers and starfish dot the sandy areas. The calm conditions and warm water make it perfect for discovery dives and training throughout the long Cretan diving season from April to November.
