Praso Island is a beginner-friendly dive site around a small green islet near Marathon on the northern Attica coast. The name 'Praso' (green) reflects the vegetation-covered islet that contrasts with the blue Aegean waters. Underwater, gentle slopes of rock and sand descend from the island's shores, creating diverse habitats. The sheltered western side offers calm conditions ideal for new divers, while the eastern exposure has slightly more current and marine activity. Wrasse, damselfish, octopus, and sea bream are common, with Posidonia beds providing nursery habitat. A pleasant, scenic dive accessible by short boat ride from the Marathon coast.
