Cape Gatos is a beginner-friendly dive site in the North Aegean, offering a scenic underwater landscape along a rocky cape. The dive follows the coastline where gentle slopes of rock and sand descend to moderate depths. Boulder formations create small swimthroughs and overhangs that shelter groupers, scorpionfish, and moray eels. The open sections feature schools of sea bream and chromis, while the rocky surfaces are decorated with sponges, anemones, and tube worms. Visibility is typically good in these Aegean waters, and currents are generally mild. The site's versatile depth profile accommodates both introductory and more exploratory dives, making it a reliable choice for local dive operations.
