Samos Plakas Reef is a beginner-friendly dive site on the island of Samos offering a gentle reef dive with diverse marine encounters. The reef consists of low rocky formations stretching over a sandy seabed, creating channels and small overhangs that harbour a variety of species. Wrasse, damselfish, and blennies are the most common residents, along with octopus and moray eels in the crevices. The reef edges are fringed with healthy Posidonia seagrass where seahorses and pipefish can occasionally be spotted by observant divers. Conditions are typically calm with good visibility, and the shallow profile allows extended bottom times. A solid everyday dive site for Samos dive operations.
