Ampera is an exciting dive site in the Alor archipelago of East Nusa Tenggara, where strong tidal currents in the Pantar Strait create exceptional conditions for marine life aggregation. The reef features a mix of coral slope and wall descending to about 20 meters, with healthy hard and soft coral coverage supporting dense fish populations. The current-swept position attracts impressive numbers of schooling fish, and the site is known for sightings of hammerhead sharks, thresher sharks, and manta rays during the right conditions. The reef also supports excellent macro diversity with nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses, and crustaceans among the coral formations. Alor's remote location means pristine reef health and virtually no other dive boats, creating an exclusive underwater experience. Moderate currents make Ampera accessible to intermediate divers during calmer periods, while the big-animal potential keeps advanced divers returning to this emerging Indonesian dive destination.
