Biatabang is a stunning dive site in the Alor Archipelago of East Nusa Tenggara, where a sloping reef drops to 30 meters along the strait between Pantar and Alor islands. The site features healthy hard coral gardens interspersed with volcanic rock formations, creating a diverse habitat that attracts a wealth of reef fish and pelagic visitors. Strong currents channel nutrient-rich water across the reef, bringing schools of fusiliers, trevally, and occasional eagle rays cruising along the drop-off. The volcanic substrate supports an unusual mix of sponges and soft corals that thrive in the current-swept conditions. Macro photographers will find nudibranchs and flatworms among the crevices, while wide-angle opportunities abound when schools of barracuda pass overhead. Biatabang exemplifies the raw, unspoiled diving that makes Alor one of Indonesia's most rewarding frontier destinations.
