Biquelli Wall is a dramatic vertical wall dive in the waters near Atauro, dropping to 40 meters along a sheer cliff face festooned with enormous sea fans, black coral trees, and dense aggregations of soft corals in every shade of orange, purple, and red. The wall's orientation catches upwelling currents from the deep Wetar Strait, bringing cold nutrient-rich water that fuels spectacular coral growth rarely seen at these latitudes. Schools of anthias cloud the wall face in shimmering curtains of pink and orange, while hawksbill turtles graze on sponges along the vertical surface. Pelagic visitors including grey reef sharks and tuna cruise the drop-off zone, and during the right season, whale sharks have been reported in the surrounding waters. Biquelli Wall demands respect for its depth and current exposure, but delivers a wall dive experience that rivals the world's finest.
