Hot Springs, also known as Underwater Volcano, is one of the most unique dive sites in Indonesia, located off Pulau Weh in Aceh where volcanic thermal vents release streams of bubbles from the sandy seabed. The site features a shallow sandy slope between 5 and 18 meters where warm water and gas escape through vents in the volcanic substrate, creating an otherworldly landscape of rising bubble columns. Despite the geothermal activity, the surrounding reef is healthy and supports diverse marine life—nudibranchs, frogfish, and seahorses thrive near the warm vents, while schools of reef fish populate the adjacent coral gardens. The thermal areas create unique photographic opportunities as bubbles catch the sunlight against the blue water. Easy conditions with no current and shallow depths make this site accessible to beginner divers, offering a truly one-of-a-kind underwater experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else in Southeast Asia.
