Sunset Reef

Sunset Reef is a relaxed dive site near the Gili Islands off Lombok, offering a colorful coral garden perfect for afternoon dives as warm golden light filters through the shallow water. The site features a gentle slope from 5 to about 18 meters covered in a mix of hard and soft corals that support a lively community of reef fish. Schools of sweetlips, batfish, and snappers congregate around the larger coral formations, while green turtles are frequently spotted resting or feeding on the reef. Cuttlefish, blue-spotted stingrays, and octopus add to the diverse encounters. The mild currents and moderate depths make Sunset Reef suitable for all certification levels, and the warm tropical water ensures comfortable diving. As its name suggests, the site is particularly magical during late afternoon dives when the setting sun creates beautiful underwater light effects.
