Calcarolle is an advanced freshwater dive site in Lake Garda's northern reaches within Trentino-Alto Adige, where dramatic limestone walls plunge steeply into the lake's dark depths. The underwater cliff face features overhangs and crevices where freshwater crayfish, perch, and pike may be spotted. The clear alpine water offers good visibility, revealing the lake's geological story written in layered rock formations. The significant depth and cold temperatures below the thermocline require dry suit skills and advanced planning, but the dramatic alpine underwater scenery is unlike any Mediterranean experience.
