Back Door is an advanced dive site off Koh Rong island in Cambodia, featuring a narrow passage through a rocky reef at 15 meters that gives the site its name. The 'back door' is a swim-through between two walls of rock, where currents funnel through the gap creating conditions that demand good buoyancy and awareness. The passage walls are decorated with soft corals, sponges, and encrusting organisms, while the current concentrates fish life — schools of snappers and fusiliers stream through the channel. Beyond the passage, the reef opens onto a broader landscape of coral bommies and sandy patches. Bamboo sharks are known to rest in the sheltered areas near the back door entrance. Scorpionfish and stonefish blend with the encrusted rocks, rewarding sharp-eyed divers. The advanced rating reflects the current conditions and confined passage rather than depth, making it an exciting dive for experienced divers.
