Monkey Cave is an advanced dive site near Koh Rong island in Cambodia, featuring an underwater cave system at 15 meters depth that requires overhead environment awareness. The cave entrance opens in the reef wall, leading into a spacious chamber where trapped air creates a surface pocket. The cave walls are encrusted with colorful sponges, cup corals, and delicate hydroids, while the darker recesses shelter soldierfish, sweepers, and lobsters. Outside the cave, the surrounding reef is alive with tropical fish — schools of fusiliers, butterflyfish in pairs, and territorial damselfish. The advanced rating reflects the overhead environment rather than depth, requiring proper briefing and confident buoyancy skills. The cave's proximity to shore means macaque monkeys can sometimes be spotted on the island above, adding a uniquely Cambodian touch to the dive. Monkey Cave is one of the few cave diving experiences available in the Koh Rong area.
