Castle is a beginner-friendly dive site near Koh Rong Samloem, Cambodia, named for a towering rock formation at 14 meters that resembles a medieval castle with turrets, battlements, and archways. This natural sculpture is the site's centerpiece, with its complex surface providing habitat for a diverse community of marine life. The castle walls are encrusted with sponges, soft corals, and tunicates in vivid colors, while the archways and overhangs shelter cardinalfish, sweepers, and the occasional lobster. Moray eels occupy the crevices between the rocky turrets, and scorpionfish lie camouflaged on the encrusted surfaces. The surrounding sandy area features additional smaller rock formations that serve as stepping stones for exploring the broader reef. Castle's imaginative topography and accessible depth make it a particular favorite with younger divers and those who appreciate the whimsical names that Cambodia's dive community has given to their underwater landmarks.
