Rt Dobrec is an advanced dive site off Montenegro's coast near the Bay of Kotor entrance, reaching 33 metres along a dramatic headland where the mountains meet the Adriatic Sea. This site offers deep wall diving in one of the most geologically dramatic settings on the Montenegrin coast. The headland at Rt Dobrec drops steeply into the sea, with the underwater cliff continuing the dramatic topography of the coast above. The wall features limestone layers eroded into ledges, overhangs, and small caves at various depths, creating a multi-level diving experience. The deeper sections reveal rock formations sculpted by thousands of years of water movement. The site's proximity to the Bay of Kotor entrance means it receives tidal flows that bring nutrient-rich water from the bay system, supporting enhanced marine productivity compared to more exposed coastal sites. This nutrient input fuels growth of sponges, tunicates, and soft corals on the wall face, creating a colourful display against the pale limestone. Marine life at Rt Dobrec includes the larger species attracted by the deep wall environment and current exposure. Dusky groupers of notable size inhabit the deeper ledges, while schools of amberjack and sea bream patrol the wall edge. The wall's crevices shelter moray eels, lobsters, and various species of scorpionfish. Octopuses are common residents throughout the formation. The 33-metre depth demands careful gas management and limits bottom time on recreational dives. The current at the headland can be strong and changeable, adding to the dive's advanced demands. Surface conditions can deteriorate when the bora wind funnels through the bay entrance. Visibility ranges from 10 to 30 metres depending on seasonal conditions, with the clearest water typically in May-June and September-October. Water temperatures range from 14 to 24 degrees. Rt Dobrec delivers serious diving in a spectacular Adriatic setting.
