Coral Gardens at Dwejra on Gozo is a beginner-friendly dive site adjacent to the famous Blue Hole, providing gentle reef diving over a colourful Mediterranean garden of marine organisms. This site offers a less demanding alternative to the Blue Hole's chimney dive while still accessing the spectacular Dwejra underwater landscape. The reef consists of a gentle slope over limestone terrain, with the rock surfaces supporting diverse growth of sponges, false coral, algae, and tunicates that create the garden effect. The shallow, well-lit conditions promote vivid colouration, making the site particularly photogenic. Marine life includes wrasses, damselfish, and bream working the colourful reef, with octopuses and cuttlefish providing engaging encounters. The proximity to the Blue Hole and Azure Window boulder field means marine life is concentrated in the area. Visibility regularly exceeds 30 metres at Dwejra. The beginner-friendly Coral Gardens provides a beautiful, relaxed dive in one of Malta's most iconic diving locations.
