The Tug Boat Rozi is an advanced wreck dive at Cirkewwa on Malta's northern tip, where a former harbour tugboat sits upright on a sandy bottom after being scuttled as an artificial reef in 1992. This compact but photogenic wreck is one of Malta's most-dived sites, offering accessible wreck diving in reliably excellent visibility. The Rozi is a classic harbour tug, her sturdy hull and prominent wheelhouse creating a recognisable profile on the seabed. The vessel's small size means the entire wreck can be explored during a single dive, with the wheelhouse, deck areas, and engine room all accessible. The tugboat's preparation before sinking ensured multiple entry and exit points. The wreck's wheelhouse is the photographic highlight, with the structure rising above the deck to create a distinctive silhouette against the blue Mediterranean water. Natural light floods through the windows, creating atmospheric interior shots. The engine room, though compact, houses the tug's machinery and provides a brief overhead environment experience. Over three decades of submersion, the Rozi has become one of Malta's most heavily colonised artificial reefs. The hull is thickly encrusted with sponges, tunicates, and algae, while hard corals have begun establishing on the most stable surfaces. Groupers, moray eels, and various reef fish have made the tug their permanent home. The Rozi's proximity to the P-29 patrol boat allows both wrecks to be combined in a single dive, creating one of the Mediterranean's best double-wreck experiences. A reef connecting the two wrecks adds additional interest to the transit. The advanced rating reflects the depth and overhead environments. Malta's visibility, often exceeding 30 metres, means the tug is visible in its entirety from a distance. Water temperatures range from 15 to 26 degrees. The Rozi is a Malta diving classic.
