Moray Beach is a beginner-friendly dive site in the Nha Trang Bay area — a reef and sand environment whose name celebrates the impressive diversity and density of moray eels that make this site particularly interesting for divers with an eye for the charismatic and sometimes misunderstood animals that occupy virtually every reef crevice in Indo-Pacific waters. Vietnam's Nha Trang Bay hosts multiple moray eel species within the Hon Mun Marine Protected Area, and at a site specifically known for them, encounters are both guaranteed and diverse: giant moray eels — the largest species, reaching over two meters in length — peer from large reef openings with the characteristic open-mouthed breathing that reveals their impressive dentition. Geometric moray eels with their distinctive zigzag patterns occupy medium-sized crevices throughout the reef. Snowflake morays — smaller, with an intricate black-and-white pattern — inhabit the tightest rock recesses. Yellow-margined morays add another distinctive species to the community. This diversity of moray species in a single accessible reef area makes Moray Beach particularly rewarding for naturalists interested in eel ecology and behavior. Beyond the morays, the site offers the standard Nha Trang reef experience: colorful butterflyfish pairs work the coral surfaces; damselfish defend their algae gardens with fierce determination; parrotfish graze with audible grinding sounds. The sandy areas between reef sections harbor flatfish, garden eels extending from their burrows, and the occasional cuttlefish drifting with mesmerizing color changes. The beginner-accessible depth and calm bay conditions make this site comfortable for extended observation and macro photography, allowing divers the time to find and appreciate the full moray diversity that gives the site its name.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
