Bajo del Diablo is an advanced dive site at Caño Island Biological Reserve off Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula. This submerged seamount rises from deep water and is exposed to strong open-ocean currents, creating one of the most exciting dive sites in the region. The nutrient-rich upwelling attracts massive schools of jacks, tuna, and barracuda, along with frequent visits from bull sharks, hammerhead sharks, and whale sharks during the right season. Giant marble rays and manta rays are regular sightings on the seamount's rocky pinnacles. The challenging conditions with strong currents and limited visibility periods demand experience, but Bajo del Diablo offers some of the best big-animal diving in Central America.
