La Viuda is an advanced deep dive to 40 meters near the Golfo Dulce on Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast. This dramatic underwater rock formation rises from the deep sea floor, creating a pinnacle that is swept by powerful open-ocean currents. The exposed position attracts impressive pelagic action with schools of tuna, jacks, and barracuda, along with occasional hammerhead and bull shark sightings. The pinnacle walls are covered with soft corals and sea fans, while large groupers and snappers shelter in the rocky overhangs. Strong currents and significant depth make La Viuda a challenging but thrilling dive for experienced divers seeking big-animal encounters.
