Isla del Caño is a beginner-friendly general dive site to 18 meters at the Caño Island Biological Reserve off Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula. This entry point to the island's diving offers a gentle rocky reef with volcanic boulder formations hosting diverse Pacific marine life. White-tip reef sharks are almost guaranteed sightings, resting on sandy patches between the rocks. Sea turtles, moray eels, and schools of grunts and snappers populate the reef, while the clear protected waters provide excellent visibility. Isla del Caño serves as a perfect introduction to the reserve's exceptional underwater ecosystem before attempting the island's more advanced sites.
