El JardÃn de la Gorgonia (The Gorgonian Garden) is a beginner-friendly dive at MarÃa la Gorda on Cuba's Guanahacabibes Peninsula. As the name suggests, this site features an extraordinary display of gorgonian sea fans creating a stunning underwater garden. Hundreds of purple, yellow, and red sea fans sway gently in the current, covering the reef slope in a spectacular living tapestry. Among the gorgonians, divers find flamingo tongue snails, basket starfish, and seahorses. Schools of creole wrasses and blue chromis hover above the garden, adding movement to the scene. The shallow depth and calm conditions make this visually stunning site accessible to all divers.
