St George Reef is an advanced dive site in northwest Cyprus near the Akamas Peninsula, with a maximum depth of 12 meters. Despite the shallow depth, this exposed reef system is rated advanced due to strong currents and surge that frequently sweep the area. The reef features dramatic boulder fields and rocky pinnacles carpeted with dense sponge colonies, sea fans, and colorful encrusting organisms. The current-swept waters attract schools of bream, damselfish, and larger predators including barracuda and amberjack. Octopus and moray eels are commonly seen in the many crevices. The pristine marine environment of the Akamas coast makes St George Reef a rewarding dive for experienced divers comfortable in challenging conditions.
