Steilwand Wallhausen is a beginner-friendly freshwater dive site on Lake Constance (Bodensee) in southern Germany. This popular shore dive features a distinctive steep wall that drops away from the shallow shore zone, giving the site its name. The wall is covered with freshwater sponges, mussels, and algae, creating an interesting vertical landscape. The ledges and crevices shelter perch, burbot, and crayfish, while pike hunt along the drop-off edge. The shallow upper area provides a comfortable zone for beginners before the wall descends. Visibility is typically good, especially during the cooler months. Steilwand Wallhausen is one of the classic Bodensee dive sites, offering easy access and reliable diving conditions year-round.
