El Peñón de San Cristóbal is a beginner-friendly dive site at the iconic rock formation in Almuñécar on the Costa Tropical, reaching 18 meters depth. This landmark rock splits the town's two main beaches and continues underwater as a dramatic volcanic ridge teeming with Mediterranean marine life. Divers explore the rock's submerged walls and overhangs where moray eels, octopuses, and groupers shelter, while colorful wrasse and damselfish populate every crevice. The sheltered bay position provides calm conditions, and the shore entry from the adjacent beach is straightforward. The combination of easy access, reliable conditions, and rich biodiversity makes this one of Almuñécar's most popular dive sites.
