La Garita I is a beginner-friendly dive site near Tarifa in the Strait of Gibraltar, reaching 15 meters depth. Located near a historic watchtower (garita), this site features a rocky reef where Atlantic and Mediterranean waters mix, creating one of the most biodiverse marine environments in Spain. The nutrient-rich waters support dense populations of fish including saddled bream, Mediterranean parrotfish, and large schools of salema. Octopuses, moray eels, and nudibranchs inhabit the rocky crevices, while the strait's strategic position occasionally brings dolphins and even orcas within view from the surface. The moderate depth and generally manageable conditions make La Garita accessible to most divers.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
