Puerto Pajares is an advanced deep dive site near Tarifa in the Strait of Gibraltar, reaching 32 meters depth. This challenging site features dramatic underwater cliffs and rock formations at the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, where powerful tidal currents create one of Spain's most dynamic diving environments. The current-swept walls support rich communities of gorgonians, sponges, and soft corals, while the nutrient highway attracts large pelagic species including tuna, amberjack, and schools of barracuda. Groupers of impressive size inhabit the deeper ledges. The extreme currents demand precise timing with the tides and are suitable only for experienced divers with excellent current-diving skills.
