
Lajas de Cerrillos is a scenic dive site within the Cabo de Gata-NĂjar Natural Park in AlmerĂa, featuring expansive flat rock formations known as lajas that create a unique underwater plateau. This beginner-friendly site offers a gentle terrain of layered volcanic rock shelves and sand channels that support a diverse Mediterranean ecosystem. Groupers patrol the edges, while moray eels and octopuses hide in the cracks between the rock layers. The protected park status ensures exceptional marine biodiversity, with dense populations of saddled bream, ornate wrasse, and rainbow wrasse. The crystal-clear waters of Cabo de Gata provide outstanding visibility, often exceeding 20 meters.
