Brighton Pier (Palace Pier) offers a unique urban shore dive experience beneath one of England's most famous seaside landmarks. The pier's iron legs and cross-bracing create an artificial reef in the shallow waters of Brighton Beach, reaching around 8 meters depth. The structures are encrusted with mussels, barnacles, and sponges that attract wrasse, blennies, crabs, and spider crabs. Cuttlefish are a regular highlight, particularly in spring and summer. The experience of diving beneath the bustling pier while hearing the muffled sounds of the amusement arcades above is surreal and memorable. Easy beach access and shallow depths make it beginner-friendly, though visibility can be limited in these busy English Channel waters.
