Inner Mulberry Harbour is a fascinating historical dive site off the coast near Littlehampton in West Sussex, exploring the remains of a Mulberry harbour section — the prefabricated portable harbours developed for the D-Day Normandy landings in 1944. These massive concrete caissons were towed across the English Channel to create temporary harbours for the Allied invasion. Some sections were lost or left in English waters, and now rest in shallow water at around 5 meters depth. The concrete structures have become artificial reefs hosting crabs, lobsters, blennies, and anemones. Despite the shallow depth, the advanced rating reflects tidal currents and the historical sensitivity of this remarkable WWII artifact.
