Wide Water Beach is a beginner-friendly shore dive site near Lancing in West Sussex, along the sheltered stretch of coastline between Shoreham and Worthing. The gently sloping sandy and shingle seabed provides easy conditions for training and first ocean dives. Rocky patches and scattered debris attract crabs, flat fish, and occasional cuttlefish and sole. The area benefits from the shelter provided by the Shoreham Harbour breakwater, reducing wave exposure. Visibility varies but can be adequate on calm days with the right tidal state. Wide Water is valued as a convenient south coast training site for Sussex-based dive clubs, offering reliable access when more exposed coastal sites are unavailable.
