Platax

Platax is a deep-wall dive off the Port-Louis offshore shelf, named after the schools of spadefish (locally called platax) that hang in tight silver formations off the wall. The profile drops from around 35 metres down into the 50-metre range, with huge barrel sponges and colourful deep-reef life covering the face. Advanced Open Water plus Deep specialty is the baseline and Nitrox 32 makes a meaningful difference to the dive window. Runs best from December through May outside the strongest trade-wind periods.
