Deep Blue is an advanced dive site in the Attica region south of Athens, named for the deep blue water that characterises this offshore location. The site features a dramatic drop-off where the seabed plunges from a moderate plateau into abyssal depths. The wall is covered with gorgonian forests, sponge gardens, and patches of false black coral at the deepest reachable points. The blue water attracts impressive pelagic visitors: schools of amberjack, dentex, and barracuda cruise past the wall, with occasional tuna and swordfish in season. Large groupers occupy the caves and ledges. The depth, currents, and open-water position make this strictly for experienced deep divers with appropriate certifications.
