Pontikonisi is an advanced dive site in the Attica region, named after the small 'Mouse Island' rock formation. The underwater terrain around this islet features dramatic walls dropping into deep water, with overhangs and small caves punctuating the cliff face. The exposed position attracts currents that bring nutrient-rich water, supporting dense marine life including gorgonian fans, sponge gardens, and colonies of bryozoans. Large groupers and moray eels occupy the caves, while schools of barracuda and amberjack sweep past in the blue water. The combination of depth, current, and exposed offshore position requires advanced skills and careful dive planning. A rewarding site for experienced divers seeking varied terrain.
