Sterna is an advanced dive site in the Attica region south of Athens, named after a rock formation or local landmark. The underwater terrain features steep walls and deep overhangs that plunge into blue water, covered with dense gorgonian sea fans and vibrant sponge colonies. The site is known for its resident population of large groupers, alongside moray eels, scorpionfish, and lobsters in the caves and crevices. Schools of barracuda and amberjack patrol the deeper water column, and eagle rays occasionally glide past. Strong currents can develop, requiring good buoyancy control and experience with drift diving. A dramatic and rewarding advanced dive in the southern Attica coast.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
