Old Damnoni Harbour is an advanced dive site on Crete's south coast near Plakias. The remains of an ancient harbor structure lie beneath the surface, with submerged stone blocks and walls creating an archaeological underwater landscape. Beyond the harbor ruins, the seabed drops away steeply along a dramatic wall that descends into deep blue water. The wall is covered with gorgonian fans, large sponge colonies, and dense patches of false coral. Strong currents can sweep through the area, bringing pelagic visitors including amberjack and barracuda. Resident groupers patrol the deeper ledges, and eagle rays occasionally glide past. The combination of history and challenging diving makes this a standout site.
