Amphora Cave is an advanced cave dive near Agia Pelagia on the north coast of Crete, named for the ancient amphora pottery fragments discovered within the cave system. These archaeological remains suggest the cave was used for storage or shelter in antiquity, adding historical fascination to the diving experience. The cave features narrow passages leading to wider chambers where stalactite formations and the ancient pottery can be observed. Marine life includes cave-adapted shrimp, lobsters, and scorpionfish. Proper cave training and equipment are essential due to the confined passages and potential for silt disturbance. A unique dive combining underwater speleology with Minoan-era archaeology.
