Mononaftis is an intermediate dive at the small cove near Agia Pelagia on Crete's north coast, reaching 28 meters depth. This deeper version of the Mononaftis site explores the outer reef beyond the sheltered beginner area, where the seabed drops more steeply into deeper water. The deeper sections reveal gorgonian fans, larger sponge colonies, and a greater diversity of marine life including groupers, barracuda, and larger moray eels. The wall features small caves and overhangs at depth. The clear Cretan waters provide good visibility for appreciating the full depth range. A natural progression from the beginner Mononaftis site for certified divers seeking more depth and marine life variety.
