Barracuda Reef is a beginner-friendly dive site near the island of Nisyros in the Dodecanese, a volcanic island known for its active caldera. Named for the schools of Mediterranean barracuda that patrol the reef, this site offers an exciting yet accessible diving experience. The volcanic reef features unusual rock formations and mineral-coloured substrates unique to Nisyros's geology. Wrasse, damselfish, and sea bream populate the reef alongside the namesake barracuda. Octopus and moray eels shelter in the volcanic crevices. The clear Dodecanese waters provide good visibility, and the gentle depth profile makes it suitable for all levels while still delivering exciting encounters.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
