
Maherida is an intermediate dive site in western Crete near Chania, reaching 21 meters along a scenic coastline of cliffs and rocky formations. The underwater terrain mirrors the dramatic landscape above, with walls, overhangs, and small caverns creating diverse habitats. Groupers, scorpionfish, and moray eels inhabit the rocky shelters, while the open reef hosts schools of saddled bream and salema. The site's position along the rugged Akrotiri Peninsula coast provides consistently interesting topography and good marine life encounters.
