Seal Cave is an advanced cavern dive in western Crete near Chania, reaching 21 meters at a sea cave historically used by Mediterranean monk seals. The cave entrance opens into a spacious chamber with dramatic light effects as sunlight filters through the water. The walls are adorned with colorful sponges and coralligenous formations, while the darker recesses shelter shrimp, lobsters, and occasional octopuses. This dive requires proper cavern training and equipment, but rewards experienced divers with an atmospheric underground experience unique to Crete.
